Overview

Bumadizone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the carbohydrazide class, structurally related to malonic acid. It exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Bumadizone has been approved for use in Germany and Austria for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and gout, as well as osteoarthritis and acute musculoskeletal pain. Its mechanism of action is typical of NSAIDs—primarily inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme (COX), leading to reduced synthesis of prostaglandins involved in inflammation and pain signaling[1][2][3][4][7]. The drug is administered orally, often as its calcium salt form.
