bumetanide

Bumetanide is a potent loop diuretic (water pill) used primarily to treat edema (fluid retention) associated with congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, and nephrotic syndrome. It acts by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidney, leading to increased excretion of water, sodium, chloride, and potassium. This results in diuresis and reduction of fluid overload. Bumetanide is considered more potent than furosemide on a per-milligram basis and has more predictable pharmacokinetics. It is available as oral tablets or injectable solutions[1][5][8].
