Overview
A combination therapy consisting of buparlisib, a PI3K (phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase) inhibitor, and tamoxifen, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). This combination targets both the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and estrogen receptor signaling, which are key mechanisms in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. The combination was studied in the PIKTAM phase II trial for hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative advanced breast cancer patients who had experienced failure of prior endocrine therapy.
