Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bupi Yishen + Shenling Baishu is a combination of two Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulas developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of minimal change disease (MCD). Bupi Yishen is designed to tonify the spleen and kidney, while Shenling Baizhu San (Shenling Baishu) focuses on strengthening the spleen and resolving dampness. This combination is primarily used as an adjunctive therapy to corticosteroids or as a maintenance therapy to reduce relapse rates and mitigate the side effects of long-term steroid use in patients with nephrotic syndrome. Its therapeutic effects are thought to be mediated through the regulation of T-cell subsets (specifically the Th17/Treg balance), reduction of inflammatory cytokines, and the protection of podocyte structural integrity by maintaining the expression of proteins such as nephrin and podocin.
