A specific regional analgesic intervention developed and studied by Kirsehir Ahi Evran Universitesi for the management of postoperative pain in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The intervention consists of an IPACK (Infiltration between the Popliteal Artery and the Capsule of the Knee) block, which utilizes a combination of 0.25% bupivacaine (Marcaine) and 2.0 μg/mL of adrenaline (epinephrine) in 0.9% saline. Administered under ultrasound guidance, the solution is injected into the anatomical space between the popliteal artery and the posterior capsule of the knee. This technique is designed to provide targeted analgesia to the posterior aspect of the knee joint by blocking terminal sensory branches without inducing motor blockade of the sciatic nerve, thereby facilitating earlier rehabilitation and functional recovery.
