Overview

Bupivacaine + carbopol hydrogel is an investigational sustained-release formulation of the local anesthetic bupivacaine. It utilizes a carbopol-based hydrogel (such as Carbopol 934) as a biodegradable and biocompatible delivery system to provide localized analgesia. By entrapping bupivacaine within the cross-linked polymer matrix, the formulation aims to prolong the duration of pain relief and reduce the need for systemic analgesics, including opioids, following surgical procedures. It has been specifically evaluated in clinical trials for postoperative pain management after mandibular third molar extractions.
