Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of bupivacaine, an amide local anesthetic, and clonidine, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. This combination is used for spinal anesthesia, caudal blocks, and other regional anesthetic procedures. The addition of clonidine to bupivacaine increases the spread of analgesia, prolongs the duration of sensory block, and decreases postoperative pain requirements compared to bupivacaine alone.
