Overview

This is a combination of three drugs used in spinal anesthesia, particularly for cesarean sections and other surgical procedures. Bupivacaine is a local anesthetic that blocks nerve impulses. Fentanyl is an opioid analgesic that enhances pain relief. Dexmedetomidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that prolongs the duration of anesthesia and analgesia. When combined, these drugs provide effective spinal anesthesia with prolonged postoperative analgesia, reduced need for rescue analgesics, and improved hemodynamic stability compared to using bupivacaine alone or bupivacaine with only one adjuvant.
