Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Bupivacaine hydrochloride + lidocaine hydrochloride + povidone-iodine + triamcinolone** is a multi-component compounded procedural drug kit containing two amide local anesthetics, the corticosteroid triamcinolone, and the antiseptic povidone-iodine. Bupivacaine and lidocaine reversibly inhibit voltage-gated sodium channels in peripheral nerves, suppressing impulse conduction and producing local or regional anesthesia and analgesia. Triamcinolone activates glucocorticoid receptors to reduce inflammatory signaling, while povidone-iodine provides broad topical antimicrobial activity through iodine-mediated oxidative and iodinating effects on microbial cellular components. Products listed under names including BLT-25 KIT, MLK F4 KIT, and P-CARE K40MX/K80MX are compounded, unapproved combination products; the FDA has not found these products safe and effective and has not approved their labeling.
