It is designed to treat 'Yin fire' resulting from spleen and stomach deficiency. The formula typically includes ingredients such as Astragalus, Ginseng, Glycyrrhiza, Coptis, Gypsum, Cimicifuga, Bupleurum, Notopterygium, Atractylodes, and Phellodendron. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM for the treatment of non-organic insomnia associated with spleen deficiency syndromes. The mechanism is thought to involve the regulation of the brain-gut-axis, intestinal microflora, and immune-inflammatory markers such as cortisol and cytokines.
