Overview

A combination of buprenorphine, a partial opioid agonist, and bupivacaine, an amide local anesthetic. This combination is primarily used in regional nerve blocks and anesthesia to provide enhanced and prolonged analgesia. Studies have shown that adding buprenorphine to bupivacaine can significantly extend the duration of pain relief compared to bupivacaine alone, with analgesic effects lasting up to 96 hours in some cases versus 24-72 hours with bupivacaine alone.
