Overview

Burfiralimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody (IgG4) developed by ImmuneMed. It targets vimentin and acts as an immunomodulator and virus replication inhibitor. Burfiralimab is under clinical investigation for several indications including moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, chronic hepatitis B infection, and COVID-19 pneumonia. Its mechanism involves modulation of immune responses and inhibition of viral replication through binding to vimentin proteins[1][2][3][7]. Clinical trials have reached phase 2 for rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis B, and COVID-19; phase 3 trials are ongoing or planned for severe COVID-19[6][8]. The drug is administered intravenously.
