Burlulipase is a recombinant, highly active, acid-stable bacterial lipase produced by fermentation of *Burkholderia plantarii* and *Burkholderia glumae*. It is developed as an enzyme replacement therapy for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), particularly in patients with cystic fibrosis and other digestive system disorders. Unlike traditional porcine-derived pancreatin products, burlulipase is animal-free and demonstrates greater resistance to inactivation by gastric acid, potentially offering improved efficacy. The drug acts as a triglyceride modulator by hydrolyzing dietary fats into absorbable forms. Burlulipase was initially developed by Nordmark Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. KG and has been studied in phase 1/2 clinical trials for EPI due to cystic fibrosis[1][2][5][7][8].
