Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Burnt hawthorn + burnt malt + siraitia grosvenorii is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-based herbal beverage formulation. It consists of burnt hawthorn (*Crataegus pinnatifida*), burnt malt (*Hordeum vulgare*), and *Siraitia grosvenorii* (Luo Han Guo). The formulation is being investigated by the School of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and Tuina at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. In TCM, burnt hawthorn and burnt malt are traditionally used to promote digestion and relieve food stagnation, specifically targeting the digestion of fats and starches, respectively. *Siraitia grosvenorii* serves as a natural sweetener and is believed to contribute to gastrointestinal health. Clinical evaluation of this beverage focuses on its impact on dyspepsia symptoms, quality of life, sleep, and modulation of the gut microbiota.
