Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushao Tiaozhi Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (also known as the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is specifically formulated for the treatment of primary hyperlipidemia, particularly for patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of phlegm-stasis and turbidity. The preparation is a multi-herb combination that typically includes Red Yeast Rice (Monascus purpureus), which contains natural monacolins (such as Monacolin K) that act as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. Other herbal components like Hawthorn (Crataegus) and Alisma (Zexie) are included to promote lipid metabolism and provide antioxidant effects. Clinically, it is used to reduce total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides (TG) while maintaining or improving high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels.
