Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Huoxue Granule (BHG) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed based on the therapeutic principles of tonifying the kidney and activating blood circulation. It is primarily investigated for its neuroprotective and renoprotective properties. In the context of Parkinson's disease (PD), BHG is used to improve both motor and non-motor symptoms, specifically targeting depressive states by modulating neurotransmitter levels such as serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Additionally, it is being evaluated for its efficacy in patients with stage 3-5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) to delay disease progression and improve clinical outcomes in non-dialysis populations. The formulation is notably associated with research conducted at Wangjing Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.
