Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Jianpi Xiaoji Prescription is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B-related cirrhosis, including macronodular cirrhosis. The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principles of tonifying the kidney (Bushen), strengthening the spleen (Jianpi), and resolving blood stasis or accumulations (Xiaoji). Pharmacologically, the prescription exerts anti-fibrotic and hepatoprotective effects by inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells and modulating the Transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling pathway. Clinical research has demonstrated its potential to improve liver function, reduce portal vein diameter, and decrease serum markers of hepatic fibrosis, thereby potentially slowing the progression of cirrhosis and reducing the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma.
