Overview
Bushen Jiedu Zhongyao Keli is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula, typically prepared in granule form, that aims to "tonify kidney" (补肾) and "detoxify" (解毒), often also incorporating ingredients to "strengthen spleen" (健脾). It is a multi-herb combination used primarily as an adjuvant therapy in oncology, particularly for colorectal cancer (CRC). The formula is believed to alleviate chemotherapy-related side effects, improve patient quality of life, and enhance survival outcomes. Its mechanism of action is complex and multi-faceted, involving the regulation of immune and inflammatory response pathways, modulation of macrophage immune infiltration, and effects on various signaling pathways such as MAPK, PI3K-Akt, and HIF-1. It has also been shown to influence the expression of certain plasma proteins and reduce lncRPPH1 in tumor-derived extracellular vesicles, thereby blocking M2-type macrophage polarization and preventing metastasis.
