Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Lishi Huayu Fang (补肾利湿化瘀方) is an investigational Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Guangdong Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. It is being evaluated for the treatment of obese polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) accompanied by insulin resistance. According to TCM theory, the formula is designed to tonify the kidney, relieve dampness, and resolve blood stasis. Pharmacologically, it aims to improve clinical symptoms by reducing serum testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels, increasing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels, and ameliorating insulin resistance. Its mechanism of action likely involves the regulation of the gut microbiota, activation of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) pathway, and modulation of androgen biosynthesis and insulin signaling.
