Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Paidu Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Yantai Diabetes Research Institute for the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF) and diabetic nephropathy. The preparation is formulated based on the TCM therapeutic principles of tonifying the kidney ("Bushen") and eliminating metabolic toxins ("Paidu"). It is designed to delay the progression of renal dysfunction by reducing the accumulation of uremic toxins, such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr), and by improving renal microcirculation. The formulation typically includes a complex mixture of herbal extracts, such as *Rheum palmatum*, *Astragalus membranaceus*, and *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, which have been shown in clinical studies to exert anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects. It is primarily utilized as a hospital-made preparation within specialized clinics in China to manage early to mid-stage chronic kidney disease.
