Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Tiaochong Recipe (BSTCR) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Professor Han Bing at the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for tonifying the kidney ('Shen') and regulating the Chong channel. It is composed of multiple herbs, including Epimedium brevicornu (Yinyanghuo), Semen Cuscutae (菟丝子), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (熟地), Herba Cistanches (肉苁蓉), Radix Morindae Officinalis (巴戟天), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (当归), Cornu Cervi Degelatinatum (鹿角霜), Rhizoma Chuanxiong (川芎), Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae (丹参), Caulis Spatholobi (鸡血藤), and Fluoritum (紫石英). BSTCR is primarily investigated for the treatment of reproductive and endocrine disorders, such as premature ovarian failure (POF), diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and infertility. Additionally, it is being evaluated in combination with alendronate sodium for the treatment of postmenopausal senile degenerative osteoporosis, where its active component icariin (from Epimedium) exerts estrogen-like effects to prevent bone loss and improve bone strength.
