Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushen Zhuyun is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, specifically designed to address reproductive health issues in women. Its primary indications include recurrent abortion (habitual miscarriage), thin endometrium, and infertility. The formula works by tonifying the Kidney (a TCM concept encompassing endocrine and reproductive functions), nourishing the blood, and regulating the Chong and Ren meridians. Mechanistically, it has been shown to improve endometrial receptivity by upregulating the expression of key markers such as leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and integrin beta-3. It also modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis and improves uterine blood flow, thereby creating a more favorable environment for embryo implantation and the maintenance of early pregnancy. It is frequently utilized as an adjuvant therapy in assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles to improve clinical pregnancy rates.
