Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bushenhuoxue formula (BSHXF) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine used primarily for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). It is a multi-component decoction that exerts therapeutic effects by regulating chondrocyte survival and inflammatory pathways. Research utilizing network pharmacology and in vivo mouse models (DMM-induced) has demonstrated that BSHXF significantly inhibits apoptosis in joint tissues. This anti-apoptotic effect is mediated through the down-regulation of Caspase-3 (CASP3), Caspase-8 (CASP8), and Caspase-9 (CASP9) expressions. The formula contains numerous active compounds, such as flavonoids and glycosides, which target a broad network of proteins involved in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis.
