butylphthalide sodium chloride

Butylphthalide sodium chloride is a pharmaceutical formulation consisting of the neuroprotective agent butylphthalide (specifically dl-3-n-butylphthalide) dissolved in a sodium chloride solution for intravenous injection. It is primarily used for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke and other cerebral ischemic conditions. The mechanism of action involves multiple neuroprotective pathways, including inhibition of platelet aggregation, improvement of microcirculation, reduction of oxidative stress and inflammation, stabilization of mitochondrial function, and protection against neuronal injury. Clinical studies have shown that it can improve neurological outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke by reducing inflammatory markers (such as CRP, IL-6/8, TNF-alpha), lowering serum free radical levels (ROS), improving NIHSS/Barthel index scores, and enhancing overall recovery rates[1][2][4]. The drug has been widely used in China since its approval in 2002.
