Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Buxue Yimu Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine formula composed of five herbal ingredients: Angelica sinensis (当归), Astragalus membranaceus (黄芪), Leonurus japonicus (益母草), Colla corii asini (阿胶), and Citrus reticulata (陈皮)[1][4]. It is widely used in China for the treatment of gynecological anemia and related conditions. The formula acts through multi-target mechanisms including regulation of inflammation, hormone balance, angiogenesis, hemostasis, response to hypoxia, immune modulation, and hematopoiesis[2][4]. Pharmacological studies have shown that it can increase red blood cell count and hemoglobin levels without significantly altering iron indices directly; its effects are attributed to optimized iron redistribution rather than increased absorption[2]. Network pharmacology has identified dozens of bioactive compounds in the formula—such as leonurine and astragaloside I—that act on targets involved in blood enrichment and immune enhancement[4].
