Buzhong Yiqi pills (also known as Buzhong Yiqi Wan) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula originally described by Li Dongyuan in the 13th century. It is traditionally used to treat "Spleen and Stomach Qi deficiency" and "sinking of Qi," manifesting as fatigue, organ prolapse, and chronic diarrhea. The formula typically consists of eight herbs: *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*, *Codonopsis pilosula* (or *Panax ginseng*), *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Angelica sinensis*, *Cimicifuga heracleifolia*, *Bupleurum chinense*, and *Citrus reticulata*. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated for its immunomodulatory properties in autoimmune diseases. Specifically, Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University is conducting a Phase 2 clinical trial (ChiCTR2300073207) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Buzhong Yiqi pills in preventing relapse among adult patients with myasthenia gravis who have achieved a stable clinical status. The drug is thought to work by balancing T-cell populations and reducing the production of pathogenic autoantibodies.
