Overview

BV-265 is an engineered **recombinant chimeric bone morphogenetic protein** being developed for bone repair and orthopedic applications. The molecule is based on BMP-2 with BMP-6 and activin A receptor-binding domains substituted into the scaffold to increase affinity for osteogenic BMP receptors, including activin receptor-like kinase 2, thereby enhancing downstream BMP signaling and osteogenic activity relative to native BMP-2. In preclinical nonhuman primate studies, BV-265 delivered in a composite matrix promoted bone repair at lower concentrations than BMP-2, with the development rationale of improving efficacy while reducing the need for supraphysiologic doses associated with currently approved BMP therapies.
