Overview

BV2 is a second bivalent SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine, specifically targeting Ancestral and Omicron BA.4/5 variants. It was administered to older adults in long-term care and retirement homes in Ontario, Canada, during 2022-2023. The vaccine induced cross-reactive antibody and T cell responses. Humoral and cellular immune responses after two heterogenous bivalent vaccines (including BV2) were noninferior to those after a single bivalent vaccine within four months of vaccination.
