BV601 is a recombinant hexavalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine developed by Wuhan BravoVax. It is designed to provide protection against six high-risk and low-risk HPV genotypes: 6, 11, 16, 18, 52, and 58. The vaccine utilizes virus-like particle (VLP) technology, where the L1 major capsid proteins of the targeted HPV types are expressed in a yeast system (typically *Hansenula polymorpha*) and self-assemble into VLPs that mimic the viral structure without being infectious. BV601 is intended to prevent HPV-related conditions, including cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, and genital warts (condyloma acuminata). As of 2024, the candidate is in Phase I clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adult populations.
