Overview

BVA-501 is a small molecule antibiotic being repositioned by Biovista for the treatment of oncology indications, specifically malignant gliomas (including glioblastoma), melanoma, and thyroid cancer. The drug's mechanism of action involves the disruption of mitochondrial protein synthesis and the mitochondrial respiratory chain, which inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells.
