Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BVI-007 is a first-in-class, small molecule thrombopoietin (TPO) antagonist being developed by BioVascular, Inc. for the prevention of major adverse cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and thrombotic stroke. Unlike traditional antiplatelet therapies that inhibit platelet function and increase bleeding risk, BVI-007 works by reducing the production of platelets, thereby lowering the number of circulating platelets without impairing their functional capacity. The drug was originally acquired from Revitus in 2007 and has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials using controlled-release formulations to assess safety and pharmacokinetics.
