BWA-02 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Argo Biopharma (Chengdu Xinzhenghe Pharmaceutical Technology) for the treatment of obesity. Utilizing the company's proprietary RNA interference (RNAi) platform, BWA-02 is designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the **Inhibin subunit beta E (INHBE)** gene in the liver. INHBE is a hepatokine that has been identified through human genetics as a regulator of energy homeostasis and fat distribution; its knockdown is associated with reduced abdominal adiposity and improved metabolic profiles. In early 2024, GSK entered into a strategic collaboration and license agreement with Argo Biopharma, which included an option for GSK to license the BWA-02 program following the completion of certain preclinical milestones.
