Overview

BWC5044 is a small molecule inhibitor of Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 7 (CDK7) currently in preclinical development by Bugworks Research. CDK7 plays a dual role in cellular biology, acting as a component of the transcription factor II H (TFIIH) complex to regulate gene transcription via RNA polymerase II phosphorylation, and as a CDK-activating kinase (CAK) that regulates cell cycle progression. By targeting CDK7, BWC5044 is designed to treat recalcitrant tumors that are highly dependent on transcriptional signaling. The program is currently in the lead generation phase.
