Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BWH-02 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Chengdu Xinzhenghe Pharmaceutical Technology (Argo Biopharma) for the treatment of heart disease, specifically targeting conditions associated with elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels. The drug is designed to silence the expression of the *LPA* gene in hepatocytes, thereby reducing the circulating levels of Lp(a), which is an independent and genetically determined risk factor for coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, and aortic stenosis. BWH-02 utilizes Argo Biopharma's proprietary RNA interference (RNAi) delivery platform to achieve potent and long-lasting reduction of the target protein, offering a potential therapeutic approach for patients with high cardiovascular risk who do not respond sufficiently to traditional lipid-lowering therapies.
