BWV-401

BWV-401 (also known as intrOv) is a novel, live attenuated, orally delivered vaccine candidate designed to prevent Chlamydia infection. Developed by Blue Water Biotech (formerly Blue Water Vaccines) through an exclusive license from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the vaccine was invented by Dr. Guangming Zhong. It is based on a *Chlamydia muridarum* strain and has demonstrated the ability to induce transmucosal protection against genital tract infection in mouse models following oral administration. As of 2023, the program was advancing into non-human primate (NHP) studies to validate safety and efficacy in a human-like model, aiming to address the significant unmet need for a preventative treatment for Chlamydia.
