BX-2000 is an investigational, ultra–short-acting neuromuscular blocking agent being developed for use during general anesthesia to induce rapid, controllable skeletal muscle paralysis. Licensed from Cornell University and developed by Baudax Bio, the agent is described as a unique, ultra-short duration nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist at the neuromuscular junction, intended to provide fast onset and recovery of neuromuscular block that can be precisely reversed by the company’s complementary reversal agent BX-3000.[1][7][10] Early development has included non-human primate studies and a first-in-human Phase 1 trial evaluating safety, cardiovascular effects, pharmacokinetics, and neuromuscular blockade profile.
