Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BX-U001 is an allogeneic human umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hUC-MSC) product developed by Baylx for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The product consists of fresh, non-frozen hUC-MSCs administered intravenously. Its primary mechanism is immunomodulation through cell replacement and anti-inflammatory effects. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that BX-U001 can significantly reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and alleviate symptoms in models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The cells are harvested shortly before administration to maintain optimal viability without cryoprotectants. Clinical development has focused on RA and COVID-19-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), with additional exploration in other inflammatory conditions[1][2][3][5][6][7].
