Overview
BX005 is a topical phage cocktail that was being developed by BiomX for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. It is designed to selectively target and reduce the population of *Staphylococcus aureus* bacteria on the skin. The overgrowth of this bacterium is associated with skin inflammation and flare-ups in atopic dermatitis. By reducing the bacterial burden, BX005 aimed to restore the skin's natural microbiome and alleviate the symptoms of the disease. The development program included a Phase 1b/2a clinical trial, but recent company restructuring and a shift in pipeline focus suggest the program has been discontinued.
