Overview

BX211 is a personalized phage therapy developed for the treatment of diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO) and diabetic foot infections (DFI) associated with *Staphylococcus aureus*. It utilizes a broad-spectrum collection of bacteriophages, selected from a proprietary phage bank, to target and destroy *S. aureus* strains isolated from each patient. The therapy is designed to address both methicillin-susceptible and resistant strains as well as high and low biofilm producers, leveraging the unique anti-biofilm capabilities of phage therapy that are orthogonal to traditional antibiotics. In Phase 2 clinical trials, BX211 demonstrated statistically significant improvements in ulcer depth reduction and area expansion compared to placebo, with favorable safety and tolerability profiles. The drug is being developed by BiomX in collaboration with Adaptive Phage Therapeutics[1][2][3][4][5][7].
