Overview

BXT-102 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate being developed by BioXyTran for the treatment of liver diseases, including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis, and fibrosis. The drug is part of BioXyTran's galectin-antagonist platform, which utilizes complex carbohydrate chemistry to inhibit galectin proteins. Galectins, particularly Galectin-3, are known to play a significant role in the progression of chronic inflammation and fibrogenesis. By blocking these proteins, BXT-102 aims to halt or reverse the accumulation of fibrotic tissue in the liver and improve overall organ function. As of current reports, the asset remains in the preclinical phase of development.
