Overview

BYK 321084 (also known as TAK-084) is a small molecule inhibitor of type 4 cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE4). It was developed for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). PDE4 inhibitors work by blocking the breakdown of cyclic AMP, leading to anti-inflammatory effects in various tissues. The drug was originally developed by Nycomed, which later became part of Takeda[1].
