Overview

BZ371A is a synthetic small peptide drug developed by Biozeus for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and other conditions. It acts as a nitric oxide stimulant with a novel mechanism that increases local blood flow without significant systemic exposure. This property may reduce side effects commonly associated with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i), such as hypotension and headache. The drug is being investigated primarily for erectile dysfunction, including in patients who have undergone radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer and suffer from nerve damage-induced erectile dysfunction. Additionally, BZ371A has orphan drug designation for optic nerve disorders and is under preclinical or early clinical investigation for female sexual dysfunction, diabetic retinopathy, dry age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, lung disorders, and neuroprotection in eye diseases[1][3][4][6].
