BZAD-01 is a potent, selective, and orally active inhibitor of the NMDA receptor containing the NR2B subunit. It acts by blocking NMDA NR2B-mediated neurotransmission, which is implicated in excitotoxicity and a variety of neurological disorders. BZAD-01 has demonstrated the ability to improve postural asymmetry in preclinical models, suggesting potential use in neurological or neuropsychiatric diseases characterized by NMDA receptor dysregulation or overactivity.
