Overview

BZE2203 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed for the treatment of advanced gynecological solid tumors. Developed by Shanghai Cell Therapy Group, this autologous cell therapy involves engineering a patient's own T cells to express a CAR targeting specific tumor antigens alongside a nanobody directed against Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1). This "armored" CAR-T approach is designed to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment typically found in solid tumors by locally secreting PD-1 blocking agents, thereby enhancing the persistence and cytotoxic activity of the CAR-T cells against the tumor. The therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for conditions such as ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers.
