Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BZT-003 is a topical live biotherapeutic product (LBP) candidate developed by Biomatz for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. It is a defined two-strain microbial consortium consisting of *Streptococcus salivarius* BZ3947 and *Leuconostoc mesenteroides* BZ1505. Designed using Biomatz's BASyMCo (Bespoke Assembly of a Synthetic Microbial Consortium) platform, BZT-003 targets the core pathological axes of atopic dermatitis by selectively suppressing *Staphylococcus aureus* colonization while preserving beneficial skin commensals. Additionally, BZT-003 promotes epidermal barrier restoration by upregulating ceramide synthesis in keratinocytes and attenuates inflammatory signaling by suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β) and Th2-associated chemokines (including TARC, MDC, and RANTES).
