Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**C-117** is an investigational traditional Chinese medicine formula described as a herbal-and-insect medicine preparation for vascular atherosclerotic disease. It has been evaluated with standard medical therapy in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of hyperlipidemic patients with vulnerable carotid atherosclerotic plaques; the published pilot study reported reductions in carotid plaque Crouse score and suggested an adjunctive effect on low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol. The formula has also been registered in a Phase 2 study intended to prevent restenosis following intracranial artery stent implantation. Its individual active constituents, molecular targets, manufacturing source, dosage form, and route of administration were not identified in the accessible public trial and publication records.
