Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C-1205 is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by Atterx BioTherapeutics for the prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). It is formulated as a lyophilized powder containing a non-pathogenic strain of *Escherichia coli* (HU2117) and a gelling agent. When reconstituted with water, it forms a thick gel used to coat urinary catheters during insertion, replacing standard lubricants. The drug works through bacterial interference, where the harmless *E. coli* strain colonizes the bladder and catheter surface to prevent the establishment of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. C-1205 has received Fast Track Designation from the FDA and is entering Phase 1/2 clinical development.
