Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C-Ketocare is a topical combination formulation developed by Surecare Pharma for the treatment of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and scalp psoriasis. It is formulated as a lotion containing the antifungal agent ketoconazole (2% w/v) and the keratolytic agent coal tar (4% w/v). Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting fungal lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase (CYP51), disrupting ergosterol synthesis and fungal cell membrane integrity, which targets dandruff-causing fungi such as Malassezia. Coal tar acts as an agonist of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), which helps regulate epidermal differentiation, slows down the rapid proliferation of keratinocytes, and reduces scaling, flaking, and inflammation. C-Ketocare is approved and marketed in India.
