Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A c-Kit-targeting antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to bind to and inhibit c-Kit (also known as CD117 or stem cell factor receptor), a receptor tyrosine kinase. c-Kit is expressed on hematopoietic stem cells, mast cells, melanocytes, and various cancer cells. Activation of c-Kit by its ligand, stem cell factor (SCF), promotes cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation. Antibodies targeting c-Kit are developed for therapeutic applications such as conditioning regimens for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (by depleting endogenous stem cells), and the treatment of mast cell-mediated allergic or inflammatory diseases (like chronic urticaria) and c-Kit-positive malignancies (such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors and small cell lung cancer).
