C1 RVFV antigen is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate designed to protect against Rift Valley Fever Virus (RVFV). It is produced using Dyadic International's proprietary C1 gene expression platform, which utilizes the filamentous fungus *Thermothelomyces heterothallica* (formerly *Chrysosporium lucknowense*). This platform is engineered for high-yield, low-cost production of complex proteins, making it suitable for rapid response to zoonotic outbreaks. The antigen typically consists of the Gn and Gc glycoproteins of RVFV, which are the primary targets for neutralizing antibodies. Developed as part of the Zoonoses Anticipation and Preparedness Initiative (ZAPI), the vaccine has demonstrated protective efficacy in livestock models, including sheep and cattle, and is being evaluated for its potential to prevent zoonotic transmission to humans.
